About the Developer

Core Urban Inc. is a property development firm proudly based in Hamilton, Ontario.  With a keen eye for the potential of underused, yet architecturally stimulating properties, the company has come to specialize in creative adaptive reuse projects.  Driven by a passion for creating memorable spaces with strong and distinctive visuals, Core Urban Inc. is playing a vital role in the dramatic renewal of Hamilton’s urban landscape.

Founded in 2009, the company has successfully completed a number of landmark projects in downtown Hamilton.  The first redevelopment project was the restoration and conversion to 23 luxury condominiums of Herkimer at Bay, originally an apartment building built in 1915.  Following this success, the company embarked on the redevelopment of a former elementary school. Located near Barton Street and MacNab Street in north Hamilton, this school shared the same architect as Herkimer at Bay; William Palmer Witton.  This 36-unit condominium project was name in his honour: the Witton Lofts.

Following these two residential redevelopment projects, Core Urban Inc. purchased two adjoining commercial buildings at the corner of Hughson Street North and King William Street.  The buildings were completely renovated, an elevator was added, and the property was named the Empire Times, an homage to the history of the structures.  Now fully leased, the Empire Times is home to two restaurants, a variety of creative and media companies, and the brand new FirstOntario Credit Union Business Centre.

Now, across Hughson Street North from the Empire Times, Core Urban is developing the Templar Flats.  This project will combine an empty lot between two older structures with new construction to offer 25 rental residences and 4 new restaurant spaces.

Future projects will continue Core Urban Inc.’s vision of excellence and ingenuity in downtown Hamilton.  As construction begins on the Templar Flats, plans are being drawn up for the revitalization of additional projects nearby.  Honoured and excited to be a part of the changing face of Hamilton, Core Urban Inc. is investing in the bricks and mortar of their community.
